“I sat on the same chair in 2018. I am not defending them, but the three or four champion teams don’t play at different home venues,” Ashwin argued. “You were winning in Mullanpur continuously, then you went to Dharamshala, and you lost three consecutive home games.”
Ashwin emphasized that the technical disparity between the two venues played a significant role in their downfall. He highlighted that while the soil might be consistent, the variations in altitude, pace, and bounce make the venues fundamentally different. In his view, by constantly shifting home bases, the franchise inadvertently turned their own fixtures into away games, disrupting the rhythm that the players had painstakingly built in the early stages of the season.

“These are young players, and even foreign players are struggling. There’s a big difference between Mullanpur and Dharamshala when it comes to pace and bounce. The soil is the same, but the altitude is different. This is also an away game for Punjab,” he added.
