SRH vs RCB IPL 2026 Match 67: Patidar Hails Sunrisers’ Dominant Batting Display
SRH’s Fearsome Batting Leaves RCB Stunned in IPL 2026 Clash
In a high-octane encounter at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Sunrisers Hyderabad sent a strong message to the rest of the league with a dominant 55-run victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2026 Match 67. Chasing a massive 256, RCB fell well short, bowled out for 200 despite a late fight from Rajat Patidar and Krunal Pandya.
SRH Fire on All Cylinders with the Bat
Winning the toss, SRH opted to bat first on what appeared to be a flat, batting-friendly surface. The decision paid immediate dividends as Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma stormed to a 45-run opening stand. Head contributed a brisk 26 before falling, but Sharma remained anchored, crafting a composed 56 off 43 deliveries.
The momentum shifted further when Ishan Kishan joined forces with Heinrich Klaasen. The duo unleashed a devastating 113-run partnership, scoring at a blistering pace of over 14 runs per over during the middle overs. Klaasen was particularly destructive, bringing up his fifty in just 23 balls before being dismissed by Krunal Pandya. Kishan also played a vital knock, ensuring SRH crossed the 250-mark — a total that proved too steep for RCB to scale.
RCB’s Chase Fizzles Despite Early Fireworks
In reply, RCB began with intent. Venkatesh Iyer exploded out of the blocks, hammering 44 off just 19 balls, forming a 60-run stand with Virat Kohli. However, his aggressive knock was cut short by Eshan Malinga, and Kohli followed soon after, scoring only 15.
With the run flow drying up, Devdutt Padikkal provided brief resistance with 21 off 14, but it was the 84-run partnership between captain Rajat Patidar and Krunal Pandya that kept hopes alive. Patidar anchored with a solid 56, while Pandya remained unbeaten on 41. Tim David added a quick 15 off 7, but the required rate had spiraled out of control.
Patidar Applauds SRH’s Execution
Despite the loss, RCB secured a top-two finish thanks to their net run rate. In the post-match interview, skipper Rajat Patidar acknowledged SRH’s superiority in the first innings.
“Too many runs on the board?” Patidar said. “Obviously, I think their top five batsmen played really well, and they purely dominated in the first innings.”
He highlighted SRH’s bowling strategy, particularly their use of slow bouncers and yorkers: “Their strength is slow bouncers and yorkers, and they executed pretty well. When you start bowling slow bouncers into the wicket, it’s really tough for the batsman to score.”
Patidar also confirmed that captaincy focus was on finishing at the top — a goal achieved despite the defeat. “The top priority was to be on top, and we’ve done that,” he added.
What This Means for Qualifiers
With this result, both teams have sealed their spots in the playoffs. SRH’s emphatic win boosts their confidence heading into Qualifier 1, where they will face the team finishing second. RCB, despite the loss, will play Qualifier 1 as table toppers — a position earned through consistent performances and crucial net run rate gains.
As the IPL 2026 playoffs approach, Sunrisers Hyderabad have once again showcased their explosive batting depth. Whether this form continues could determine who lifts the trophy this season.
